For those that don't know, RIM has some free newsletters that can be a great source of tips and other Blackberry help.
If you are like me, you often try to take a picture or store a file on your device only to have it run out of space. In their Connection newsletter, they have a tip on how to maximize free space.
They suggest:
-Use a media card to store files
-Remove unnecessary features and applications
-Minimize the number of contacts stored in the Address Book
-Delete old items (you can set it to do this automatically)
-Delete Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) messages that are no longer needed
-Change the Keep Appointments setting to reduce the number of old calendar events using flash memory.
-Clear the browser cache often.
-In BlackBerry® Desktop Software, set messages to stop being forwarded to the BlackBerry smartphone when it is cradled.
-Flash memory is used to download and display email messages on the BlackBerry smartphone. Set the Auto More option to No
When using software version 3.8 or 4.0, set it to allow content compression (note this will eat up battery life)
These are some great books that have helped me get up to speed quickly on my Blackberry:
Blackberry for Dummies
Blackberry Pearl for Dummies
